ALBANY — Gov. Cuomo Wednesday praised girlfriend Sandra Lee’s fight against breast cancer last year as he proposed an expansion of screening programs.
Cuomo, toward the end of his State of the State address, recalled getting the news last March that the celebrity chef had cancer and would need a double mastectomy.

Toward that end, Cuomo’s new budget proposal seeks $ 90 million to implement “the most aggressive, best breast cancer screening in this country.” The plan, he said, is to provide mobile units, longer and weekend hours at clinics, and assurances that insurance companies will pay for the screening.
