Ex-supermodel Janice Dickinson opened up about her harrowing breast cancer diagnosis in a teary new interview, admitting she’s fearful “for the first time.”
“It’s shocking — everything hit me at once. My mother died of cancer, so I knew how bad I felt when I heard about my mother. My son broke down,” Dickinson said in clips from a pre-taped interview airing Wednesday on “The Doctors.”
“Honestly, I haven’t cried in about 30 years. And just lately I’ve been very tearful because today I actually felt fear for the first time — and I don’t get scared. I kind of lost it.”

Janice Dickinson opens up about her recent breast cancer diagnosis on Wednesday’s episode of “The Doctors.”
The former “America’s Next Top Model” was recently diagnosed with early-stage ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS), the most common form of non-invasive breast cancer, she told Daily Mail Online in an interview last week. Treatment typically involves a lumpectomy followed by radiation and sometimes a mastectomy.
“I haven’t been feeling myself for the past several months. I knew something was wrong,” Dickinson recalled on “The Doctors.” “My internist gave me the initial breast examination … She said, ‘Something here doesn’t feel right.’ She felt a lump.

“I have been very regular with mammograms. After comprehensive tests from four specialists, the doctor said, point blank, ‘You are positive for cancer.’”
The unexpected diagnosis has given the ex-model a renewed appreciation for life, she said, speaking fondly of her children Nathan Fields and Savannah Dickinson and psychiatrist fiance, Dr. Robert (Rocky) Gerner.
“The days look bluer. The clouds look whiter. Everything’s greener. I’m so lucky to have a loving family,” she said. “I can be emotional and happy and sad and afraid, but I’m not alone.”
Dickinson, whose journey will henceforth be chronicled on the Dr. Phil-produced talk show, also urged women to get preventative breast screenings.
“I’m doing this for all women,” she said. “Please, sisters, have regular breast examinations.”

Dickinson, 61, is also embroiled in a legal feud with disgraced comic Bill Cosby.
The former “Celebrity Big Brother” housemate’s unfortunate news comes amid her increasingly contentious legal battle with Bill Cosby, who she says drugged and raped her in 1982.
A judge ruled March 29 that her defamation lawsuit against the fallen funnyman — whom she sued last May after he branded her a liar for her allegations — could proceed to trial.
